Our community should encourage and praise its citizens, especially our younger citizens who step forward and report situations occurring in our community that may potentially cause harm. Citizens shouldn't fear having their names and reputations tarnished simply because they have reported a potentially harmful situation.

I read with interest the July 22 article concerning options to seek a ballot question whether to replace the current form of city government with our former strong mayor/city council form of government.

It seems strange that through our Kansas Lottery we have an economic development fund that makes money available to start a new business, but there are no funds to help those who are forced to close because of lengthy road construction, such as the roundabout at S.W. 21st and Urish Road, that forces customers to go out of their way to get to their businesses.
